A strap-and-cable performance boot sized in an explicit length by width millimetre format, for example 130x120. The number is the boot's own length and width, not the hoof's, so clearance is built into the choice.
Width is measured across the widest point of the hoof on the ground surface. Length is measured from the toe to the buttress line at the back of the heel, not including the heel bulbs. Measure within two weeks of a fresh trim.
Renegade wants 5 to 10 mm of clearance between the hoof and the boot. Do not buy the boot that equals your hoof; buy the next length or width band up within that window.
