They are noted for their endurance and ease of adapting to harsh environments, particularly being well-adapted to mountainous conditions. It gets its name from the Kabardian subgroup of the Circassians. The Uzunyayla horse bred by Circassians in Turkey was formed as a crossbreed between this horse and Hungarian horses.
